We are very sorry for any problems you may have had this week with on line services.

We had a new server installed last weekend and sadly it came with many teething problems.  We hope that we are now on the home straight and we will have our on line services back up and running by Monday.

Many apologies for any inconvenience caused 23.04.15

We are sorry that our list has been closed for so long.  Unfortunately we had to make that very difficult decision in the interest of all of our patients.  Sadly to reduce the number of patients we have had to ask those who no longer live within our boundaries to register elsewhere which did not go down very well.  We believe this is a reflection of the patient care that we aspire to give everyone. On the flip side, we are now open.

Our registering GP at the moment is:

    DR KAUR

To ensure that all new patients are looked after with dignity and respect and to the level that the public have come to know from Western Elms Surgery, our registration procedure has changed slightly.

If you would like to register here, please collect a form from reception at which time an appointment will be given to you for you to return your form, photo ID and proof of address.  A member of staff will go through the form with you to make sure that we have all the correct information to enable us to look after you well.

The CQC have published their report on Western Elms Surgery and it is available to download here. We are pleased that we have been rated overall as 'good' and the Patient Participation Group have reviewed the report as well. Alan Porton, Chair of the PPG, has said, 'I feel that everyone at Western Elms should be rightly proud of the contents.

    Prescription Requests

THIS PROCESS OF ORDERING PRESCRIPTIONS THROUGH THIS WEBSITE WILL EXPIRE ON 1st February 2015

You need to register at the surgery if you would like to continue to order your prescriptions on line with the new system that links in to our clinical software.  Over time you will also be able to use this system to make appointments on line to avoid having to ring in.  We are trialling the software now.
Please bring some form of photo ID with you to the surgery to enrol in this new service.

    DR SIMON PETTITT

Sadly Dr Pettitt will be leaving us at the end of July.  We are very sad that he is leaving us as we have had excellent feedback from his patients and he has fitted in to the Western Elms team from day one.  We will miss him but wish him well on his new adventures.

We know some of you have had two GPs in a very short space of time and to this end we are pleased to advise you that Dr Marc Batista is returning to the surgery and will be taking over the patient care of Dr Pettitts patients.  We had lots of sad patients when Dr Batista completed his training so it is very exciting that he has chosen to come back to us.  We know that some of you will have already met him and have built a relationship with him so this should smooth the transition.

Our other GPs have full patient lists at the current time so we have chosen wisely to ensure that you have the best possible patient care that Western Elms can offer.  We would therefore ask that those of you who have not met with Dr Batista meet with him at least once as we are sure you will be as pleased as we are.

DR SHAMIM RAHMAN  has been with us now for 6 months as an F2 Registrar Doctor.  We have had lots of lovely compliments about him and know everyone will wish him well on his next training placement where he will complete his final year to becoming a GP.

DR JENNI EGGLESTON will be joining us in August for 6 months on her next placement.  Please join us in making her feel welcome, as you always do.

We are very proud to be a training practice and with all the current news about a lack of GPs for the future, it is very important that we get everybody on board with supporting our trainees.

Thank you for your continued support.

Our preferred method of prescription request is now via the chemist. Please speak to the chemist of your choice and ask for it to be "nominated" and then they can request and recieve electronic prescriptions on your behalf.  The prescription is received on-line at the surgery and signed electronically by your GP and then returned.  It still takes 48 hours as it still has to be checked for safety reasons however it is not a piece of paper that can go missing!  It is an auditable system whereby we can tell where the prescription is in the process.

Alternatively if you need a repeat issued and have not nominated a pharmacy you can hand in the right hand side of your prescription to the receptionist or put it in the prescription box.  The doctors need to check and sign these so please allow 2 full working days before collection. Prescriptions can be posted if you enclose an S.A.E.

WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO TAKE PRESCRIPTIONS OVER THE PHONE.  This was never a formal process of receiving a prescription but a favour to patients who needed it.  There is no need to do this any more as you are able to phone your nominated pharmacy and order your prescription with them.  They are trained to receive prescription requests over the phone and in the interests of safety for all patients we will no longer be able to do so. We are sorry.
