Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10am

After 10am it is harder for the doctor to fit the visits into the middle of the day, and it may have to wait until the following working day.

Telephone: 0118 959 0257

Home visits can only be offered to patients who are housebound or too ill to come to surgery. Home visits are an extremely inefficient way for doctors to see patients (it takes about four times as long, and little medical equipment is available), so we always encourage patients to do everything they can to come to us (eg. using a taxi, or a neighbour, for a lift).

We try to arrange visits as early as possible in the day so that any admissions to hospital can be avoided late on. Late admissions create pressure on the Royal Berkshire Hospital and likely delays for the patient.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.

Ways to cancel

1. Telephone us on 0118 959 0257.

2. Cancel using our online services
